My Stars and Stripes Project
Hearts Therapeutic Riding Program is a non-profit organization that was formed in June of 2012 to rehabilitate neglected horses. It has been their mission to provide rehabilitation for disabled veterans, special needs children and adults, and individuals recovering from trauma. Hearts provides therapeutic sessions and riding lessons weekly with the effort of several PATH certified instructors and volunteers. Also, they host veteran-specific events with Veterans' Night Out as well as events associated with The Wounded Warrior Project.
Because of my passion for veterans, I am building an accessibility ramp and platform to allow safe mounting for disabled veterans and special needs children. Even given the times we are in now with many things being canceled, the needs of these individuals cannot be canceled. I am very passionate about this project because wheelchair bound individuals have already had to be turned away because they simply cannot be served safely.
Thank you to everyone who donated their time, materials, and money to help me reach my goal and finish my project. However, even though my project is done, Heart's mission of helping rehabilitate disabled veterans and special needs children is not. I hope to inspire you to continue to help and support Hearts Therapeutic Riding Program and their very honorable cause if able
About Me
My name is Savannah Cantor and I am from American Heritage Girl Troop TX 6201. I've been in AHG for nine awesome packed years and I hope to return as an adult leader after my project.
American Heritage Girls has been a huge part of my life and I have grown in character and leadership through the program. Veterans have always been very close to my heart and I have volunteered hundreds of hours serving our veterans through leading flag precessions, working with Honor Flight Austin, and Georgetown Field of Honor.
